Sleep and Immune System
Matthew Walker, a professor of neuroscience and psychology said “Sleep deprivation can reduce immune cell activity. Natural killer cells are like the secret service agent of our immune system, they are good at identifying dangerous unwanted elements and eliminating them. You want to have this at all times and you don’t have them when you are not sleeping enough.”
Research has shown that having only 4 hours of sleep in one night is equal to 70% reduction of natural killer cell activity.
“The shorter you sleep, the shorter your life.” ~ Matthew Walker
To help you prepare for a good night restful sleep, join me on this month's Bedtime Bliss!
The practice will start with introducing you to using aromatherapy essential oil (lavender, rose geranium and clary sage - feel free to have your own) on acupressure points to calm the nervous system followed by restorative yoga to prepare you to sleep soundly. Sounds delicious?
