The gallbladder function is to store & excrete bile as bile helps to break down fat so it can be digested.
In the Five Element Theory of Chinese Medicine, the gallbladder is associated with the Wood element which is about having clear judgment, decision-making and growth. The Yang organ of the gallbladder meridian has a common imbalance of inability to digest fat, pain under the right ribcage or right shoulder blade, dark yellow urine, and gallstones.
The therapeutic approach focuses on nourishing the yang energy as it can keep you active during the day but it is stored when you are asleep. The body should be at rest for cellular repair in order to wake feeling energised.
Gallbladder energy peaks at 11pm - 1am, which is when the gallbladder meridian is on duty. This is the time for:
△ clear the mind
△ wind down your nervous system
△ yoga nidra (if have trouble sleeping)
△ bedtime yin yoga (if have trouble sleeping)
Practices to nourish your gallbladder Qi: Focus on sleeping by this time, otherwise you are depleting your gallbladder's energy which over time can lead to poor self-esteem, poor judgment, and difficulty making clear decisions.
The key to nurturing your gallbladder Qi is to have a smooth flow of energy in the gallbladder meridian and the suggested practices that I created this month in the Online Healing Studio is specifically to help Yang Sheng for your gallbladder meridian.
